Couture gowns and runway pieces from your sketch

Bespoke couture gowns and runway-standard one-off pieces designed and made in Officer from your sketch or reference images, for fashion shows, events and red carpets.

HMN produces one-off designs for fashion shows and events. A couture piece starts with your idea, whether that is a sketch on a napkin, a folder of reference images or a conversation about the feeling you want the room to have. We draft the pattern, build a toile, fit it on you, and then make the final garment with hand finishing at every stage.

We have dressed clients for runway shows, launches, weddings, galas and red-carpet evenings, and we build each piece to a runway standard: structured bodices, hand-set beading, layered skirts, trains, capes and sculpted shapes that hold under lights and movement. Every piece is unique and is never repeated for another client.

Designers, stylists, performers and private clients come to us from across Melbourne and the south east. Bring your reference, tell us the date and the venue, and we will come back with a design direction, a construction plan, a quote and a fitting schedule that works backwards from the show.

How it works

Four steps from idea to finished garment

  1. 01

    Consult

We talk through the show, the event or the moment the piece is for, and what it needs to do on the day.

  2. 02

    Bring your reference

Your sketch, mood board or reference images set the direction. We develop the design with you from there.

  3. 03

    Measure and toile

A full set of measurements, then a toile fitted on you so the shape is right before the final fabric is cut.

  4. 04

    Fit and finish

Fittings on the real piece, then hand finishing, pressing and a final check before collection.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked

Do I need a finished sketch to start?

No. A rough drawing, reference images or even a description is enough. We develop the design with you before any fabric is cut.

How long does a couture gown take?

Eight to twelve weeks for a fully hand-finished piece with beading or structure. Faster timelines are possible for simpler designs, so ask.

Can you work with a designer's own patterns and fabric?

Yes. We regularly make up pieces for designers and stylists from their patterns, sketches and supplied fabric for shows.

Will my design be used for anyone else?

No. Every couture piece is a one-off made for you and is not repeated.
