Seen from behind, the turquoise mermaid gown shows a straight strapless back and a centre back zip that keeps the line clean. Vertical panel seams run through the body, and the black contrast band continues all the way around the flare above a train that sweeps out behind. As with the front, it fits closely from bust to knee because the gown is custom tailored to your measurements.

Every piece starts with a consultation at the studio in Officer, where we talk through the design, the fabric and your date. We take your measurements and cut to them, then fit the piece once or twice before it is finished.

Typical timeline: Eight to twelve weeks for a fully hand-finished piece with beading or structure.

Bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear with it, so the length and fit are set correctly.

Fabric and care

Made in the fabric you choose, for example a duchess satin, a mikado or a stretch crepe. Structured satins should be dry cleaned, and the gown stored on a padded hanger with the train supported.
