A corset is structure first and style second, which is why HMN builds every corset on a fitted pattern with steel boning, a strong coutil base and a proper busk or lacing. We make overbust and underbust corsets, corset bodices and waist cinchers for weddings, stage, runway, performance and formal events.
You choose the outer fabric, the shape of the top and bottom edge, the closure and any surface detail such as embroidery, velvet or brocade. We fit the base at a mock-up stage so the final piece is comfortable to wear for hours and holds the silhouette it was designed for.
Performers, designers and private clients come to us from across Melbourne and the south east for corsetry that is made properly rather than bought in. Send a reference image or a sketch and we will come back with a quote, a construction plan and a timeline.

Questions we are often asked
Are the corsets made with steel boning?
Yes. Spiral and flat steel boning on a coutil base, with a steel busk or back lacing depending on the design.
How many fittings does a corset need?
Two: one on the mock-up to set the shape and fit, one on the final piece before finishing.
Can you make a corset to wear under a dress?
Yes. Lightweight underbust corsets and cinchers that sit smoothly under a gown or blouse are a regular request.
How long does a custom corset take?
Four to six weeks depending on the fabric and detailing.
